Hiking Homebody
Notes from the trail and the couch.
Hi, I’m Kaci.
I started Hiking Homebody because somewhere in my 40s I realized I could love hiking in the mountains and coming home afterward.
Around here, I share hiking in midlife, realistic wellness, cozy mountain living, books worth reading, gardening, and pieces of ordinary life that are easy to overlook when we’re moving too fast.
I’m not the fastest hiker, the most disciplined wellness person, or someone who believes every weekend needs to become an adventure.
Sometimes the win is making it to the summit.
Sometimes it’s walking the local trail.
And sometimes it’s coffee, a Kindle, and nowhere else to be.
That all counts here.
Why subscribe?
If you’re trying to make a little more room for the things that make you feel like yourself again, you’ll probably feel at home here.
I write about getting outside without needing to be the fastest person on the trail, taking care of ourselves in ways that actually fit real life, finding joy in home and ordinary routines, and figuring out what this season of midlife gets to look like.
You’ll also find trail notes, New England hiking ideas, books I’m reading, favorite finds, garden detours, and the occasional story that didn’t go according to plan.
Subscribe for new Hiking Homebody notes delivered right to your inbox and check out the publication archives.
What You’ll Find Here
🥾 Hiking in midlife — approachable trails, lessons from the trail, gear I actually use, and encouragement for those of us who aren’t trying to set speed records.
🌿 Realistic wellness — strength, movement, food, recovery, and habits that have to work inside an actual life.
🏡 Home & the mountains — gardening, cozy weekends, New England seasons, and the quiet things that make home feel good.
📚 Books worth reading — what I’m reading, what stayed with me, and plenty of books best enjoyed with coffee and a blanket.
☕ Ordinary life — because I’ve started to believe some of the best parts are the ones we almost don’t notice.
Come for the trail. Stay for the couch.
You don’t need to identify as a “hiker” to belong here.
Maybe you’re getting back outside after years away. Maybe you’re figuring out midlife as you go. Maybe you just like mountains, gardens, books, coffee, and the idea that life doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be really good.
Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
