Hiking is my absolute favorite "sporty" activity and it literally saved me from going completely insane during the pandemic!

And you are right, some of my favorite hikes are not the hardest, where I pushed my limits, but the simple ones, that just happened when I most needed them.

Most of my hikes end up on my local trail and then I do more when I can fit it in!

Really enjoyed this piece! In midlife I've been enjoying the micro moments more, especially when I'm outside.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it - there are so many little things outside when we take the time to notice 💚

I really enjoyed this, Kaci.

I especially appreciated your point about how quickly we move the goalposts and start believing something only counts if it looks impressive. I think we see that mindset too much everywhere, not just in hiking.

My favorite walks happen on a simple trail close to home. No summit. No big accomplishment. Just fresh air, movement, and the quiet presence that comes from being outside.

You said it beautifully. The local trail still counts.

Agree - most of my walks are right out my back door. I get away to the mountains where I can, and it’s great, but consistency of nature beats anything else 💚
